If you like the music of the 1920s, 30s, 40s and 50s . . .
then tune in to 'Down Memory Lane' which airs from 10am to Midday on Mondays. This show concentrates on music from the crooner and swing era, the 1920s, 30s, 40s and 50s.
You'll be treated to the likes of Bing Crosby, Jo Stafford, Glenn Miller and his Orchestra, early Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland - oh the list just goes on and on!
'Sing along with Streamer' segment (made popular on her long tapes and other shows she's presented) is still with us, where the audience are treated to songs that are often little heard or unusual, but very 'sing-along-to-ish'.
This show was originally presented by Bruce Argyle, who is now taking a break from radio. Initially it was presented on Mondays and Wednesdays 10am to Midday.
In 2003 Bruce gave up his Wednesday slot and for a number of months, Streamer covered that show. This gave her and the audience great joy. At the same time Streamer was presenting a show called 'Streamer Never Sleeps'. This show is no longer going to air - you can read more about this legendary show, see the playlists and read some interesting history on the History Page.
Unfortunately, two things happened that stopped Streamer presenting 'Down Memory Lane' back in 2004 - the workload of preparing two shows (and 'Streamer Never Sleeps' had a lot of other time hungry tasks attached to it) was too much, and then, Mistress Hellen went and found a DAY JOB and could no longer transport Streamer to 2RRR.
Anyway, things have changed, and Streamer is back on board again and thoroughly enjoying presenting the music of the first half of the 20th Century!
Just an aside - Streamer no longer announces that she's a beagle - she just lets people think she's a human. This makes life simpler. She still sounds the same, still does strange things, still makes Mistress Hellen's life very 'interesting'. If you're wondering what sort of 'interesting', check out Beagle Diary.
Since giving up presenting 'Streamer Never Sleeps', she has recorded three long tapes for 'Transmission' (airing very early Thursday mornings) and two 8 hour tapes for general use.
